Aggravated Assault During Alleged Drug Deal Results in Search Warrants and Charges

St. Albert, Alberta – On May 22, 2017, St. Albert RCMP received a report of a serious assault on a 17 year old male resident of Edmonton that occurred on Sunday, May 21, 2017 in the Akinsdale area of St. Albert.

The youth allegedly met up with several male persons and entered their vehicle for the purpose of a drug deal, when the suspects assaulted him. The youth sustained injuries to his side, face and head and had some of his property stolen. His head injury required surgery and a hospital stay to correct.

St. Albert RCMP General Duty officers, St. Albert RCMP Drug Section, St. Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Section, Edmonton Police Service and the St. Albert RCMP General Investigation Section have conducted an investigation into this matter, including conducting 2 search warrants at 2 separate residences in Edmonton, AB, and the following people are facing charges:

1) Malcolm Quincy Powery, age 24, of Edmonton, AB
2) Boakai Abu Dukuly, age 19, of Edmonton, AB
3) Calvin Junior Powery-Hooker, age 18, of Edmonton, AB

They have each been charged with:

1) Aggravated Assault
2) Robbery
3) Forcible Confinement

Contrary to the Criminal Code.

Dukuly and Powery-Hooker have had Bail denied and are in custody. These two men and Powery are all scheduled to enter pleas in St. Albert Court on Monday July 24, 2017.

The 17 year old youth and his family have been offered the help of the St. Albert Victim Services unit.
