Missing senior’s vehicle, human remains discovered near Sunny Corner, New Brunswick

Sunny Corner, New Brunswick – A vehicle registered to 84-year-old Marcel Berthiaume of Trout Brook has been located, and human remains have been recovered near Sunny Corner.

Marcel Berthiaume has not been in contact with friends or family since May 20. He has been known to routinely take drives in the woods in his Jeep. Despite an extensive search, there has been no sign of Mr. Berthiaume since.

On July 11, around 12:45 p.m., two hunters reported finding a Jeep matching the description of Mr. Berthiaume’s vehicle in the woods near Sunny Corner. The vehicle was located by RCMP members around 5 p.m. and confirmed to belong to Mr. Berthiaume. Human remains were discovered a short distance away from the Jeep.

While it is believed the remains are those of Mr. Berthiaume, further testing will be required to make a positive identification. Foul play at this time is not suspected.
