Charges Laid After Jasper RCMP Arrest Rycroft, Alberta Male With Axe Smashing Car Windows

Jasper, Alberta – On July 9, 2017 at approximately 15:35 PM, Jasper RCMP officers were dispatched to a high priority call at the Maligne Lake parking lot. A highly intoxicated male suspect was allegedly threatening people with an axe and was smashing car windows.

On scene, police were advised that a bystander was able to take the axe away from the suspect and that he was being detained by multiple people.

The 18 year old male suspect was arrested and taken into custody without any incident.

As a result of this investigation, Quinten Delaney CAMPBELL, of Rycroft, Alberta, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of mischief under $5000 and two counts of uttering threats to cause death.

Jasper RCMP would like to advise that the public is not at risk as this was an isolated incident.
