Elk Point RCMP investigate death of a male on Frog Lake First Nation

Frog Lake First Nation, Alberta – Last night at approximately 10:00 p.m., Elk Point RCMP responded to a shooting incident that allegedly occurred on the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement. A male was then found deceased a short time later on the Frog Lake First Nation. No one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing. Members from the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit – North (MCU) have assumed carriage of the file and are being assisted by Elk Point, St. Paul RCMP members and the Forensic Identification Section (FIS).

The scene is being processed and witnesses have been identified and are being interviewed. An autopsy has yet to be scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death of the deceased.

Police believe there is no risk to public safety at this time and new information will be provided to the media by way of updates when it becomes available.
