Chilliwack RCMP confirm shooting

Chilliwack, BC – On July 21st just before 9:00 a.m. Chilliwack RCMP was called to the 43000-block of Progress Way after receiving a report of a shooting. When police officers arrived, they located a male victim with life threatening injuries. The male victim was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services but has since succumbed to his injuries.

It is early in the investigation, but the shooting appears to be targeted. The victim cannot be identified as the next of kin have not been notified.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for an undetermined amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with Chilliwack RCMP.

The investigation is fluid and there are many moving parts, any updates will not be provided by IHIT today. As facts become known, they will be made available if required. Further information will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
