Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are investigating a targeted home invasion early Sunday morning at an apartment building in Riverside Meadows, after a number of shots were fired but no injuries were reported.
Shortly before 3 am on July 23, RCMP responded to a report of multiple gunshots at an apartment building in the area of 53 Avenue and 58 Street. At this point in the investigation, RCMP believe the attack was targeted. To date, RCMP have not located any injured parties, but did locate numerous shell casings, a bullet hole in the bumper of a nearby parked car and a bullet that travelled through the targeted apartment and lodged in a screen door of another unit.
Reports indicate that two Caucasian men wearing bandanas over their faces attempted unsuccessfully to enter the apartment, and between seven to nine gunshots were heard; two vehicles with two occupants each were then seen speeding from the scene, while another man was seen running westbound from the area, possibly holding a handgun.
The two males seen attempting to enter the apartment are described as Caucasian, thin, wearing all black clothing; one was approximately 5’9” tall and the other was around 5’11”. The vehicles are described as a black SUV crossover and a grey four-door car.
“If you know the offenders responsible or have information about this dangerous incident, police are urging you to come forward immediately,” says Staff Sergeant Jeff McBeth of the Red Deer RCMP. “These suspects made a series of incredibly reckless choices with no regard for the safety of innocent bystanders, and we’re asking for your help to get these offenders and their guns off the street.”
RCMP continue to investigate. If you have information about this investigation, contact the Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575.
