White Rock, BC – Just after midnight on July 25th, 2017, White Rock police officers were conducting foot patrols as part of their regular duties, when they were approached by two concerned citizens who advised an older male had just walked out into the water.
Police walked along the pier and made contact with the male who was swimming. The male spoke to officers and did not appear in distress. The Coast Guard was notified as police were concerned for the males well being given the time of day and how far out he was.
Police lost sight of the male who was subsequently located by the Coast Guard at 0135 hours. First Aid was given at scene by the Coast Guard and Advanced Life Support (ALS) however attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. The deceased is a 59 yr old White Rock resident.
The file has been turned over to the BC Coroners Service.
