Nanaimo RCMP Issue Warrant for Violent Offender – ARRESTED

Nanaimo, BC – The Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 34 year old Lance POINT of Nanaimo wanted for several violent offences and numerous warrants.

POINT has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault following a violent confrontation on May 18, 2017, when officers attempted to arrest him on outstanding warrants. During the altercation POINT allegedly said he would stab an officer with a knife he had in his possession. Several bystanders assisted the officer and collectively POINT was restrained and taken into custody.

Lance POINT is a First Nations male, 5 ft. 7 130 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. He has one tattoo on his left forearm which spells “Jenny”. POINT should be considered violent and not approached. IF POINT is seen, call 911 immediately. JULY 27, 2017 UPDATE

A tip from the public on the whereabouts of Lance POINT, lead to his arrest at approximately 5:30 pm on Wednesday July 26th.

General Duty officers assisted by Police Dog Services attended to Shoreline Drive in the south end of Nanaimo. Upon seeing the officers POINT attempted to run but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without incident.

The Nanaimo RCMP wishes to thank the public and media for their attention to this matter.
