North West Territories Male Charged After Camrose Police Stop Reveals Drugs

Camrose, Alberta – July 26th, 2017 – A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle that was exceeding the speed limit. While speaking with the male driver Police observed a strong odor of cannabis marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and during the search of his vehicle Police located quantities of cannabis marijuana, cannabis resin, cocaine, and other illicit drugs. The 24 year old male from North West Territories was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was later released on a recognizance with conditions.

The Loss Prevention Officer from a west end business contacted Police regarding a theft from their store. The suspect had fled prior to Police arrival in a red four door Saturn car. Police are investigating.

Police observed a vehicle leaving a local bar with a license plate that did not match. The vehicle was stopped and it was determined that the male operator was breaching the curfew and jurisdiction conditions of his conditional sentence order. In addition to that the vehicle he was operating did not have insurance or registration. The applicable traffic safety act tickets were issued and his vehicle was towed. Police are working with the Stony Plain Probation office regarding the breach charges.

July 25th, 2017

A male with outstanding warrants out of Strathcona was located at a residence in Camrose. The 29 year old male from Sherwood Park was arrested and is in custody waiting on a bail hearing.

The owner of a red 2005 Ford F350 crewcab truck reported that his vehicle had been stolen while parked in the Duggan Mall parking lot. Police are investigating the theft.

A 21 year old male was arrested on three outstanding warrants and additionally charged with two counts of breaching his curfew conditions. He is currently in custody and waiting on a bail hearing.

Police mediated a dispute between a 25 year old male and his girlfriend who were arguing over property. The male contacted Police using 911 and was educated on the proper use of the emergency phone number.
