Suspicious Device Found in Medicine Hat Remains Under Investigation

Medicine Hat, Alberta – On July 25, 2017, members of the Medicine Hat Police Service responded to the area of Southridge Drive and Sage Road after a 9-1-1 call was received reporting a suspicious device found.

The package was made PVC pipe and resembled a pipe bomb. The MHPS Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) examined the package and was able render it safe. The contents were not explosive materials. The MHPS Major Crimes Unit will continue the investigation to determine the owner of the object and intent for leaving it in a public location

The MHPS would like to thank the public for their cooperation with the significant disruption to traffic flow in the area.
