Faro, Yukon – On Friday, July 21st, shortly after 5:30 p.m., Faro RCMP received a call for assistance from a man located on an island on the Pelly River near Faro.
Due to high waters, the man and his wife had hit a submerged tree stump, causing their canoe to capsize in a fast-flowing section of the river.
Two officers from Faro RCMP, Cst. MacLean and Cst. Christinger, departed via boat. Once at the location, they were able to confirm that both the man and his wife were okay, and recover their canoe and belongings from the river.
The couple was then returned to shore in the RCMP boat.
