Rescue Workers Recover Body at Gregoire Lake Provincial Park – Update 2

Anzac, Alberta – On July 23, 2017 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a possible drowning on Gregoire Lake in Gregoire Lake Provincial Park. A 35-year-old male was canoeing when it tipped over.

Tragically this morning, the male’s body was recovered from the lake and he is confirmed deceased. An autopsy is scheduled at the Office of the Medical Examiner in Edmonton, however, preliminary investigation reveals nothing suspicious about this occurrence.

Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time. Hisname will not be released.

The Southshore Boat Launch and Day Use area have now been re-opened.
