Rocky Mountain House RCMP Arrest Female on Crime Spree

Rocky Mountain House, Alberta – In the early morning hours of July 27, 2017, Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to a complaint of a Ford F350 on fire in Clearwater Country, near Caroline, Alberta. The truck was determined to have been recently stolen from Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Officers quickly attended but were unable to locate the driver who had fled into a nearby wooded area. A RCMP Police Service Dog attended the scene and immediately caught the scent of the culprit. After a brief track in the darkness of the night, the RCMP Officer and her trusty K9 apprehended the fleeing 36 year old suspect who resisted arrest. Joanne Henke, a resident of Ponoka, Alberta, was arrested and charged with multiple criminal offences relating to crime spanning across Central and Southern Alberta. Henke has been charged with:

Rocky Mountain House, Alberta

  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • resist a peace officer
  • fail to comply with condition of an undertaking x 2

Consort, Alberta

  • property obtained by crime under $5000
  • use stolen credit card
  • fail to comply with condition of an undertaking

Brooks, Alberta

  • theft of motor vehicle over $5000
  • fail to comply with condition of an undertaking

Henke was remanded in custody and will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Monday, July 31, 2017. The investigation into these matters are continuing and further charges are pending for offences allegedly committed in the Province of Saskatchewan.
