Innisfail, Alberta – On July 28, RCMP members in Innisfail made an arrest following the deployment of a tire deflation device at the end of a drive-thru to stop a stolen vehicle.
At 1:00 p.m., Innisfail RCMP members were on foot and observed a suspicious vehicle in a drive-thru. Observations led the members to determine that the vehicle was stolen and consequently, told the male driver that he was under arrest. The male continued through the drive-thru and drove over the tire deflation device. The vehicle proceeded a short distance until it collided with a fence and a power box. The male left the vehicle and fled on foot. Approximately half an hour later, he was arrested without further incident a short distance away.
RCMP were able to confirm that the vehicle had been stolen in Red Deer, and contained other property believed to be stolen as well as break-instruments.
39-year-old Sang Ho Son of Red Deer County was the only occupant in the vehicle and is currently in custody. Son faces charges of: Fail to stop for police, Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Obstruction, Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, Possession of break-in tools, Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, Drive uninsured motor vehicle and Fail to remain at the scene of a collision (x 2).
Son is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Red Deer on August 3, 2017.
This matter is before the courts and further information will not be forthcoming.
