Truck Driver Restrained, Cigarettes Stolen From Trailer on Highway 16 in Ardrossan, Alberta

Ardrossan, Alberta – The Strathcona County RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance to identify suspect(s) involved in an armed robbery that occurred in the parking lot of the Esso Gas Station, Highway 16 in Ardrossan, Alberta.

On Wednesday August 2, 2017, at approximately 11 a.m., in the parking lot of the Esso Gas Station, a male suspect hiding in the cab of a semi tractor-trailer unit parked in the lot brandished a weapon and demanded the driver surrender his keys upon returning to his vehicle. The driver complied with the demands and was restrained by the suspect. A large quantity of cigarettes were stolen out of the attached trailer unit. The victim was not injured. Police believe that the crime required more than one person and the use of a semi-trailer.

Police are looking to speak to anyone who might have been at the location at the time of the offence and/or anyone with information about possible suspect(s).
