UPDATE: Death of Vernon man confirmed as homicide

Vernon, BC – The Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are confirming that the death of a Vernon man reported on July 19th, was a homicide.

The investigation into the July 19th, 2017 death of a 50 year old Vernon man is continuing. RCMP investigators have established that William Frederick Bartz’s death is a homicide. No arrests have been made in connection to Mr Bartz death. Police do not believe that the matter poses any threat to the general public.

BACKGROUND:

The Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP is investigating, after an adult male was found deceased inside a Vernon apartment on Wednesday morning. Investigators are treating the death as being suspicious in nature.

On Wednesday July 19, 2017 at approximately 11:30 am, the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive male located in an apartment unit in the 2900 block of 43rd Ave in Vernon. On attendance, police confirmed that the adult male was deceased. Preliminary findings lead officers to believe that the man’s death is suspicious in nature.

Uniform officers along with a police dog unit are also assisting the General Investigation Section. Investigators remain on scene and are conducting neighbourhood inquiries with respect to the incident.
