Impaired Camrose Male Strikes Mobile Wash Station, Light Pole and Two Fences at Big Valley Jamboree

Camrose, Alberta – Police received a complaint of a domestic in progress at a downtown convenience store. The verbal argument was mediated by Police but the involved male was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

A traffic stop resulted in the male driver being charged with no registration, misuse of a license plate and with failing to produce his driver’s license. His vehicle was towed.

Police conducted a traffic stop of a possible impaired driver. The male driver advised he had taken Tylenol and was very sleepy. There was an odor of cannabis marijuana and a small quantity of the drug was located along with a vial of cannabis resin. The male was issued a 24 hour driving suspension and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

A local bar advised that a male patron had been hit over the head with a beer bottle and was unconscious. Police attended and the male was sitting on the floor with multiple cuts and bruises to his face and hands. The male was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. Three other men were responsible for the assault and Police are making efforts to identify the suspects.

At the Big Valley Jamboree site Police observed a male assaulting a female. The intoxicated male as charged with assault, public intoxication as well as with possessing more than one driver’s license. He was released on a promise to appear when sober.

A complaint from the BVJ site was received of a possible impaired driver who hit a light pole, mobile wash station and then drove through 2 barbed wire fences. The vehicle then sped away heading east on highway 13 where it lost a tire and crashed into the ditch. The male was arrested for impaired driving and provided samples of his breath that were twice the legal limit. The 24 year old male from Camrose was charged with dangerous driving and impaired driving.

A male in the beer gardens at BVJ was arrested for assault after he punched another male in the eye. The 20 year old male from Devon was lodged in cells and later released on one count of assault.

A traffic stop resulted in a male driver being arrested for impaired driving and provided samples of his breath that were over the legal limit. Police also located a quantity of a concentrated cannabis marijuana product referred to as ‘Shatter” in the vehicle. The 20 year old male from Wildwood was charged with impaired driving and possession of a controlled substance.

A consensual fight between two males at the BVJ site resulted in both individuals being charged with the bylaw offence of fighting in public. One of the males was also arrested on an outstanding warrant and possession of a prohibited and dangerous weapon when Police found him to be carrying brass knuckles.

Several charges of public intoxication were laid to individuals at the BVJ site who were grossly intoxicated and causing issues with staff or other patrons. Some of these individuals were on conditions not to consume alcohol so they were additional charged with breaching their conditions.
