Saskatoon Vehicle Theft Ends In Successful K-9 Track

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Saskatoon Police responded to a complaint of a theft of a vehicle Friday night at a gas station.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., August 4, 2017, an intoxicated male entered an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Ruth Street East. The owner of the truck was inside the gas station while a passenger was asleep inside the truck. The passenger awoke to an unknown man in the driver’s seat attempting to drive away. The passenger began screaming and was able to exit the vehicle. The vehicle owner became aware of the situation, ran to his truck and pulled the man out.

When Police arrived, the man had run off. The SPS Canine Unit attended and located the suspect male in a back yard nearby. Canine contact was not made and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

A 26 year old male has been charged with Theft of a Vehicle and Driving while Impaired.
