Penticton RCMP week in review 2017-08-08

Penticton , BC – The following incidents occurred over the past week in Penticton:


2017-11918 At 710 am, a break and enter was reported to the Penticton RCMP at Wine Crush on Brunswick Street. It is believed that the front door may have been left unlocked and the business was entered overnight. Two Samsung laptops, one grey and one white, were missing as well as a black Acer tablet and the cash box.


2017-12162 At 755 pm, police received a report of two males attempting to break into an accounting firm in the 600 block of Martin Street. The two males were located sitting in lawn chairs outside of the business and no break and enter had been committed. A 20 year old male was arrested for being intoxicated in public and was held in custody until he was sober enough to care for himself at which time he was released without charges. The second male, a 25 year old Kelowna resident, was arrested on two outstanding warrants and was held in custody for a court appearance the following day.


2017-12179 At 815 am, two bikes were reported to have been stolen overnight from the backyard of a Van Horne Street residence. The bicycles were locked up and the lock was cut. One bike is described as a black and blue Diadora and the second is a black and lime green mountain bike.


2017-12332 At 305 am, police witnessed a 1993 Honda Civic racing downtown and squealing its tires. The 28 year old Alberta resident was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for driving without consideration and the vehicle was impounded for seven days for stunting.


2017-12414 At 730 am, Penticton RCMP received a report of an overnight break and enter to Valley Ink Tattoo on Martin Street. A window air conditioning unit had been removed to gain access to the business. A cash box and a DVR were reported missing. The Forensic Identification Section attended and gathered evidence along with video surveillance footage to identify the suspect.

2017-12418 At 1045 am, police received a report that the Japanese Cura Restaurant in the 1400 block of Main Street was broken into overnight. Nothing was reported missing.

2017-12421 At 1130 am, Penticton RCMP received a report of a break and enter to Perrin Orthodontics at 1000 Main Street. An exterior door had been pried open. Nothing was reported to have been stolen.

2017-12444 At 550 pm, police received a report of an attempted break and enter to Louise’s Bridal Fashions on Westminster Avenue. The back door showed an attempt to pry it open but entry was not gained.


2017-12468 At 345 am, Penticton RCMP responded to a theft in progress on Naish Drive. A witness called police because they could hear someone trying to start their neighbour’s motorcycle. Police located the motorcycle in the walkway with wires removed in an apparent attempt to start it. A 44 year old suspect was located nearby with break and enter tools and a motorcycle helmet in hand. The male had a warrant from Kelowna and was held in custody. The motorcycle theft remains under investigation.
