Whitecourt RCMP Respond to Child Drowning on Mcleod River

Whitecourt, Alberta – On August 10, 2017 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Whitecourt RCMP were dispatched to a possible drowning on the Mcleod River near a recreation area.

Emergency Medical Services and the Whitecourt Fire Department were on scene with a 7 year old male in medical distress. STARS Air Ambulance was dispatched to assist but unfortunately the 7 year old male passed away that evening.

The RCMP would like to express their condolences to the family during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the family and the community at this time of need.

The RCMP is asking to respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief, the boy’s name will not be released.
