Camrose Police Respond to Multiple Theft Calls

Camrose, Alberta – August 13, 2017 – As a result of an ongoing theft investigation where 30 packs of cigarettes were stolen from a business, Police have arrested and charged a male youth for theft and possession of stolen property under $5000. The youth was arrested and released on a promise to appear.

Police responded to a disturbance at a residence where two men were reported to be fighting. The situation was mediated with no criminal charges being laid. One of the subjects had an outstanding warrant out of the Calgary Police Service and he was arrested and released on a promise to appear when he was sober.

A west end business reported they caught a male trying to steal knives from the store. When confronted, the male began to kick and swing at an employee before Police arrived. Police arrested the male youth and he was charged with assault, theft under $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000 and one count of breaching a youth probation order. He was released on a promise to appear.

Police received a report of a group of youths damaging the fence surrounding a construction site in Camrose. Police located the individuals and a male youth was identified as being responsible. The youth suffered a cut to his hand while damaging the fence and was taken to receive medical attention. He was arrested and charged with mischief under $5000 and will be brought before a Justice of the Peace to determine his release.

A business reported that they caught a 35 year old man trying to steal items from the store. Police attended and determined the male removed items from the packaging and concealed them in his pockets then tried to leave the store. He was charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5000, released on an appearance notice and given a one year trespass notice.

August 12, 2017 – While on routine patrols, Police conducted checks on a 25 year old male and determined that he had two warrants for his arrest. The male was subsequently arrested, transported to the Police Station and lodged in cells, awaiting a bail hearing.
Police were dispatched to a retail business, where the loss prevention Officer was detaining a 33 year old female for shoplifting. Police attended and arrested the female for theft and possession of stolen property. She was released on scene and set to appear in Court at a future date.

A 24 year old male attended the Camrose Police Service and turned himself in for his outstanding warrant for a driving offence. The male was arrested and released to appear at the Camrose Provincial Court.

While dealing with an unrelated matter, Police observed a 26 year old male to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. He was placed under arrest and searched, where paraphernalia and marijuana were located and seized. The male was released on an Appearance Notice and set to appear in Court at a future date.
