Medicine Hat, Alberta – On August 13th at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 20 year old Calgary man was seated in a parked vehicle in the South East parking lot of the Medicine Hat Hospital. The driver was approached by a male who asked to sit inside the vehicle, the driver allowed him into the vehicle as they had been discussing the fact that the vehicle had a “for sale” sign.
When the driver attempted to end the conversation, the male attempted to take the keys from the driver. The driver resisted at which time he was sprayed with bear spray by the male. The male then fled with the driver’s backpack that contained an iPad. Police attended and located the male on the South East Hill area after a cell-phone app was used to locate the iPad. The bear spray was recovered as well as the stolen property. The two men were unknown to one another, neither were injured.
A 26 year old man of no fixed address is being charged with robbery, possession of a weapon, possession of stolen property, and threats to cause death. He is currently in custody awaiting a Bail Hearing.
