Prince Albert Police Investigate Assault on Police Officer

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – On Saturday, August 12, 2017 shortly before 5 a.m. Prince Albert Police Service officers were dispatched to a hotel on the 3600 Block of 2nd Avenue West on a disturbance call and attempted sexual assault.

When officers arrived and attempted to arrest the male suspect outside of the hotel the male physically assaulted the officer attempting arrest. The male was brought under control by officers and arrested.

A 34-year-old male from Black Lake, Saskatchewan is facing one charge of intent to enable himself to commit an indictable offense of unlawful confinement, did attempt to render the officer unconscious or incapable of resistance by choking the officer and one charge assaulting an officer with intent to resist the lawful arrest of himself and one charge without lawful excuse to fail to comply with a condition of undertaking.

The sexual assault investigation is still underway.

The suspect will face charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today (Information #991022068).
