Calmar, Alberta – On Sunday, August 13, 2017 at approximately 1:50AM, the Leduc RCMP were called to the area of 51 Street and 47 Avenue for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
Witnesses described how the victim tried to stop the suspected impaired driver of a pickup truck after the truck was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck fled the area with the victim still holding onto the truck before he fell to the ground and was run over by the driver who did not stop. The victim sustained injuries to his mid-section and was transported to the University of Alberta hospital by ambulance.
Police were able to locate the pickup truck involved as a result of the quick thinking by witnesses who obtained photographs of the truck’s licence plate.
30 year-old Zachary Dingman has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Failure To Stop or Remain at an Accident, and Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm.
