Medicine Hat Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault & Sexual Exploitation

Medicine Hat, Alberta – The Medicine Hat Police Service Major Crimes Section has charged a Medicine Hat resident following an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault.

It is alleged that in June of 2017 a patient, attended a walk-in medical appointment in the City of Medicine Hat where, during an examination, the adult male patient was sexually assaulted. Following an investigation by MHPS Family Crimes Unit, and in consultation with the Crown Prosecutors’ Office, Dr. Ian Gebhardt, age 55 has been charged with the following offences:

1. Sexual Assault
2. Sexual Exploitation of a person with a Disability

Dr. Gebhardt was released from custody, by way of a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) Bail Hearing and is due to in court September 14, 2017.
