Police arrest two people, seize drugs in targeted Cookville traffic stop

Cookville, Nova Scotia – Police arrested two people and seized a significant quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash during a targeted vehicle stop on Wednesday.

At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday evening, the South Shore Integrated Street Crime Unit, with assistance from Lunenburg County District RCMP General Investigative Section, conducted a targeted vehicle stop in a business parking lot located off Hwy 10 in Cookville. A quantity of crack cocaine was seized, along with drug paraphernalia and cash.

As a result of the stop, police arrested 28-year-old Timothy Charles MacKenzie of Hammonds Plains and 25-year-old Alisha Dawn Hynick of Hammonds Plains. They are charged with one count each of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine.

MacKenzie was remanded into custody and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 17 at 9:30 am for a bail hearing. Hynick was released with conditions and will answer to her charges in Bridgewater Provincial Court on October 11 at 9:30 am.

The South Shore Integrated Street Crime Unit consists of members from the RCMP and the Bridgewater Police Service.
