While on patrol after the evacuation of Williams Lake, Corporal C.B. Huitson located the dog near a check point along Highway 97. After spending some quality time with the RCMP, the dog would begin her B.C. tour of three SPCA facilities: Williams Lake, Prince George and eventually Vancouver.

“I’m a dog lover and it was quite emotional to see that someone had lost their family member. She was a beautiful animal and I could only imagine how much she was being missed,” says Cpl. Huitson.

Several weeks after returning from his deployment in Williams Lake, Cpl. Huitson was contacted by the Vancouver SPCA to advise him that the owners were still outstanding and an opportunity to adopt the animal was an option.

“I jumped at the opportunity to adopt ‘Sadie,’ which is the name my girlfriend gave her,” Cpl. Huitson states. “Sadie is wonderful addition to our family.”
