Chilliwack, BC – Two men face charges following the execution of Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) warrants by RCMP on Friday.
The raids stemmed from a police investigation of drug trafficking in the community. Evidence gathered by plain cloths officers of the Chilliwack Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) during their investigation of the reports led to the arrest of the two men from Chilliwack.
On August 18, 2017 CRU officers supported by the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) executed search warrants in the 5400-block 0f Peach Road and the 5800-block of Sappers Way.
The police seized vehicles, and what investigators believe to be approximately 4 kilograms of cocaine, 2 sawed off shotguns, a rifle, a handgun, cash and drug paraphernalia during the searches.
Lucas Benjamin Thiessen, 23, faces one charge of trafficking in a controlled substance, two charges of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two charges of a possessing a prohibited firearm without a licence.
Thiessen remains in custody.
A British Columbia wide warrant has been issued for Antonio Dillan Nolasco-Padia, 21, who was released from custody, and now faces a charge of unlawfully possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
“Our priority is always the safety of the community which we attain when we reduce a significant drug trafficking network by removing illegal drugs and weapons from our streets,” says Superintendent Deanne Burleigh Officer in Charge of the UFVRD.
