UPDATE: Metchosin, B.C. death treated as homicide

West Shore, BC – August 25, 2017 – RCMP are confirming that the body discovered on the Malloch Rd property is that of 56 year old Richard Curtis MILLIGAN of View Royal.

As the investigation is progressing, we are now treating this death as a homicide, says Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP. Police have been working around the clock since day one of the investigation in hope to shed some light around the circumstances of his death.

Extra resources such as the Tactical Troop and Forensic Identification Section of the Island District RCMP have also been actively working on this case.

Information gathered so far does not suggest that the public is at risk. In turn, investigators would like to hear of any suspicious activity or individuals that may have been in the area of Malloch Rd and Gillespie Rd from August 19 to August 21.

BACKGROUND:

A suspicious death investigation is underway following the discovery of a body today in Metchosin, BC.

On Wednesday August 23, 2017 at approximately 12:00 PM, the West Shore RCMP were led to a scene where they discovered a deceased adult male in the area of Malloch Rd in Metchosin.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, with the assistance of the West Shore RCMP’s General Investigation Section and General Duty members, are now investigating this death where foul play is suspected.

This investigation is in its early stages. No further information can be shared at this time. Investigators would like to hear from anyone who may have information regarding this suspicious death.
