Airdrie, Alberta– On August 27, 2017 at 2:15 am, Airdrie RCMP responded to a complaint of an armed male and structure fire on Woodside Crescent in Airdrie, Alberta.
Airdrie RCMP, with the assistance of the Airdrie Fire Department and EMS, responded to the complaint immediately. It was determined that a male, whom had been involved in a confrontation, had attempted to set fire to his residence. The male had also caused a gas leak in the house. The fire was extinguished quickly and the gas leak was contained. The immediate area was evacuated at the time.
The adult male was subsequently arrested on scene under the Mental Health Act and transported to hospital for medical attention. Residents have since returned to their homes in the area. Further Criminal Code charges are pending.
