Additional charges laid against Fredericton man convicted of drug trafficking

Miramichi, New Brunswick – An additional eight charges have been laid against 36-year-old Fredericton man convicted of drug trafficking.

Jesse Michael Joe was convicted on August 29, 2017, of trafficking a schedule 1 substance and failing to comply with a probation order. He has been remanded in custody pending a sentencing hearing on October 20.

The new charges were laid on August 14 and 21, and include:

  • Trafficking fentanyl
  • Criminal negligence causing bodily harm
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Two counts of trafficking oxycodone
  • Three counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

He will appear in court on October 2 to answer to these additional charges.

The charges are the result of a complex RCMP investigation following reports of drug trafficking and drug overdoses on the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation in April 2017.
