Camrose Police Find Aluminum Bat & Cocaine During Vehicle Search

Camrose, Alberta – August 31, 2017 – While on patrol Police observed a parked vehicle that did not have a plate attached. Members approached the vehicle and located a male passed out inside. The male was intoxicated by drug and had outstanding warrants for his arrest. A search of the vehicle located an aluminum bat and 14 grams of cocaine. The 27 year old man was charged with impaired care and control by drugs, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and possession of a controlled substance. He was later released on a $250.00 cash bail.

A 50 year old woman was charged with shoplifting after she was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer at a west end business.

Police received a complaint that a woman was driving her vehicle while she was under the influence of prescription drugs. The 71 year old woman was located and left in the care of family. A letter was sent to the driver’s review board.

A 38 year old man was stopped inside of his vehicle. The driver was given multiple tickets for no insurance, no registration and failing to provide documents. The vehicle was towed from the highway.

At 8:00 P.M. Police were patrolling the Augustana University of Alberta area and noted a Ford F150 truck with damage to the door locks. Checks on the vehicle and licence plate determined it was stolen. A male was observed getting into the vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted. Duane LUZ from Edmonton, Alberta was charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5000.00, two counts of Possession of Stolen Property under $5000.00 and Possession of Break-in Tools.

August 30, 2017 – A vehicle while parked on Marler Drive in the 6800 block had been entered overnight and a credit card, sunglasses, headphones and perfume were stolen from within the vehicle.

A 37 year old female was charged with six counts of theft under $5000. The female was charged after Police were able to identify her stealing liquor on six separate occasions. Video surveillance at the liquor store was utilized by Police in solving the thefts.

A youth was breaching his curfew condition after Police checks determined that he was not at his residence for the second time in a week. The youth was later located hiding from Police in the bathroom of a fast food restaurant. The youth was arrested and charged with two counts of breaching an undertaking.

Police responded to a noise complaint on 54 avenue in the 6200 block which resulted in a 38 year old male being arrested on outstanding warrants. He was later released on a recognizance with conditions and a new date to appear in court.
