Partyers at rural B.C. party struck by vehicle

Salmon Arm, BC – The Salmon Arm RCMP responded to a complaint of two pedestrians at a pit party being struck by a vehicle, early Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday September 5, 2017, at 1:00 am, the Salmon Arm attended to report of motor vehicle incident involving two pedestrian at a pit party at the Skimikin gravel pit in the Tappen Valley Rd area.

The investigation at the scene revealed that one vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner by a 17 year old Sorento male, who allegedly struck two young people in a gravel pit where a party was ongoing. The two 17 year old two girls who attended the hospital suffered minor injuries and were released after being assessed.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and transported to the RCMP Detachment where he was later released to his parents.

The local detachment continues to investigate and investigators believe that alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident.
