Nanaimo, BC – During the early evening hours of September 11th, the Nanaimo RCMP received a call from BC Ambulance Service, requesting police assistance. They had attended to a residence on Nicol Street in Nanaimo, and were treating an adult male that had suffered injuries consistent with an assault. The man has subsequently died as a result of his injuries.
Police are treating the death as suspicious. These incidents are complex and take time to ensure appropriate steps are taken stated Corporal Jon STUART. There has been no arrest at this time. This appears to be an isolated incident, and there does not appear to be any ongoing threat to the general public.
The Nanaimo Serious Crime Unit is investigating the incident, which is still in its infancy. It will take time to clarify what happened in this matter. The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
