Saskatoon Police Conduct Cocaine Trafficking Investigation in 100 Block of Cornish Road

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Two men have been arrested and a warrant has been requested for a third man following an investigation into cocaine trafficking in Saskatoon.

On September 12, 2017, members of the Saskatoon Integrated Drug Enforcement Street Team witnessed activity consistent with drug trafficking in the area of Avenue X North and 29th Street West. Officers arrested a 52 year old Saskatoon man near the scene and found him to be in possession of cocaine. The officers then attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, a black Hyundai Sonata, a few blocks away. The driver refused to stop and collided with three unmarked police cars before fleeing the scene. The vehicle was located with assistance from Patrol members at 33rd Street and Junor where it had been abandoned.

Initial investigation led officers to the 100 block of Cornish Road where a male was seen matching the description of one of the suspects involved. A 28 year old man from Surrey, BC was taken into custody. A warrant has been requested for a second man, 21 years of age who was not located. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at a residence on the same block. Inside, officers located approximately $45,000 in cash, cell phones and a safe.

The 52 year old man is now facing a charge of Possession of Cocaine. The 28 year old man is facing charges of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of the Proceeds of Crime, and Breach of Recognizance. The 21 year old man is facing charges of Possession of the Proceeds of Crime, Evade Police, Dangerous Driving and Assault with a Weapon (Hyundai Sonata).
