Camrose, Alberta – September 14, 2017 – Drug Conviction – On August 30, 2017 Sheldon Ray Barore (21) appeared in Camrose Provincial Court and was convicted of Trafficking a Controlled Substance and sentenced to serve one year in jail. Barore was charged after he was observed actively selling cocaine during a Camrose Police Service drug operation which concluded on June 3, 2017. Barore was one of six individuals charged during the drug operation.
Police received a complaint from a liquor store after a male stole a bottle of vodka and then fled on a bicycle. Video surveillance was used by Police to identify the male and charges are pending.
Police received a complaint of a domestic occurring on 51 avenue in the 5300 block. Police attended and determined that the involved male was breaching his conditions not to consume alcohol. The male was arrested and charged accordingly.
September 13, 2017 – As a result of an ongoing drug investigation, Police on September 11, 2017 obtained a warrant to search a residence on 43 street in the 5200 block. As a result of the search Police located and seized the following:
- 2000 grams (4.3 lbs.) of cannabis marijuana
- 9.3 grams of cocaine
- 154 grams of psilocybin
- 17 grams of shatter (cannabis resin)
- 34 tablets of MDMA
- 591 milliliters of GHB
- $4,685 cash
Nicholas James Carrier, (25) of Camrose was charged with four counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Possession of Proceeds of Crime. Carrier’s first appearance in Camrose Provincial court is on September 13, 2017.
The total potential street value of the drugs seized in the investigation is $27,000.
An 18 year old male was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. The male convinced a minor to leave the safety of her residence and drove her to a location where the assault occurred. The male had been inappropriately communicating with the youth and some of her friends. Police are continuing their investigation to determine if there are any other victims.
September 12, 2017 – Police received a complaint of a female sleeping in a vehicle in a back alley. Police attended and determined that the 25 year old female had outstanding warrants out of Edmonton and Whitecourt. Upon the arrest Police located a small quantity of fentanyl and GHB resulting in her being charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of breaching her conditions. A bail hearing was conducted and the female was remanded.
While on patrol along Mount Pleasant Drive, Police observed a male and female consuming alcohol. Police checks indicated that both individuals had outstanding warrants. The 39 year old female was released with a new court date and the 44 year old male was remanded as he was unable to pay his outstanding fine.
A mother contacted Police when her 23 year old son returned home high on drugs and alcohol and began destroying the inside of her rental suite. The mother did not want her son to be charged with mischief. The male was arrested to prevent further breach of the peace and released when sober.
September 11, 2017 – Police received a complaint of an impaired driver that had driven away from a licensed premise. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for impaired driving. While being arrested, the driver resisted and attempted to grab for the officer’s belt. Force was applied to gain control of the driver and she was taken into custody. The woman refused to provide a breath sample and she was charged with impaired driving, refusal to provide a breath sample, and resisting arrest. She was released on a promise to appear.
September 10, 2017 – Police were called to numerous noise complaints throughout the evening.
A complaint was received that a woman was screaming inside of a residence. Police attended and spoke with a couple inside of the home. The couple was having an argument and both were separated to avoid any further issues.
Police located a male that was under the influence of drugs and unable to take care of himself. The 31 year old man was arrested and a quantity of cocaine was in his possession. He is facing charges under the controlled drugs and substances act.
A man was arrested for outstanding warrants. He paid the outstanding fines and was released from custody.
September 9, 2017 – Staff at a downtown licensed premise reported that a male who was causing problems at the location last weekend had returned. They requested he be advised that he was not welcome inside the premises. The male was located and the message was delivered.
An intoxicated female called requesting Police attend her residence as a second intoxicated female was inside the house and causing problems. When Police arrived, one of the females was requested to leave as to prevent any further problems and she did so in a taxi.
While conducting checks on a male who has a 9 PM curfew, it was determined that he was not inside his residence at 9:30 PM. The male will be charged with breaching his probation.
Police spent a substantial amount of time in the Augustana neighbourhood dealing with a large amount of foot traffic. Police were educating students about appropriate behavior in the residential neighbourhood as well as enforcing liquor laws.
