Barrhead RCMP charge two after execution of warrant

Barrhead, Alberta – On Sept. 6, 2017, a joint investigation involving both the Barrhead and Westlock RCMP Detachments resulted in a search warrant being executed on two residences in the Highridge area. With assistance from the Emergency Response Team (ERT) – Edmonton, two people were arrested at the scene and taken into custody. An extensive search of the property recovered several stolen vehicles and a firearm.

Niel Pendrak, a 43-year-old from Barrhead County has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • possession of stolen property over $5000 (x4)
  • breach of a recognizance (x2)
  • breach of probation

He was remand into custody after a judicial hearing and was set to appear in Barrhead Provincial Court on Sept. 26, 2017.

Robert Devine, a 47-year-old from Barrhead County has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • possession of stolen property over $5000 (x4)
  • possession of a firearm while prohibited to do so (x2)

After being released on conditions, Robert Devine was arrested again after a break and enter was reported on Sept. 11, 2017 shortly before 10:00 p.m. Barrhead RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress. Upon arrival in the area, RCMP located Devine and he was arrested without incident for possession of stolen property and breaching conditions of his release.

He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and is set to appear in Barrhead Provincial Court on Sept. 26, 2017.
As the matters for both accused are now before the court no further information will be provided.
