Edmonton Traffic Section investigating serious pedestrian collision

Edmonton, Alberta – The EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) is investigating a serious pedestrian collision that has left an elderly woman in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 a 70-year-old female was crossing 87 Avenue at 169 Street in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 2013 Nissan Altima.

Investigations revealed that the vehicle was travelling northbound on 169 Street turning west onto 87 Avenue at the time of the collision.

The pedestrian suffered multiple serious injuries and remains in hospital in critical condition. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.

Charges are pending against the 47-year-old male driver of the Nissan.
