Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Carjacking with Shots fired – UPDATED

Sherwood Park, Alberta – On 2017/10/12 at approximately 12:30 AM, the RCMP were notified by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) that they were following a black Ford Fusion. This vehicle was involved in an armed carjacking in Edmonton. At the same time, the Strathcona County RCMP received a complaint of shots fired at the Holiday Inn Express on Broadmoor Boulevard. A male individual had been shot in the shoulder and neck area. The male was conscious and appeared to have non-life threatening injuries.

The male was transported to the Royal Alexandria hospital to have his injuries treated.

At approximately 12:35 AM, the Black Ford Fusion was involved in another armed carjacking with a shotgun, at the Flying “J” gas station. A Black Chrysler 300, with a Saskatchewan licence plate was stolen. At that time both the stolen Ford Fusion and Chrysler 300 left the area.

A black Ford Fusion was later found engulfed in flames on Highway 16 at RR 195. At this time police do not have confirmation that the burned vehicle is the same one used in the carjacking.

The Chrysler 300 was seen traveling at a high rate of speed through the Vegreville area. The Chrysler 300 was later located in Saskatchewan. The individual(s) involved are believed to be in Saskatchewan.

There are currently no accurate descriptions of the individual(s) involved available. Nor is there any information on a new vehicle that may be involved. The individual(s) responsible are currently still at large.

The individual(s) involved are believed to be armed and dangerous. The public should not approach any suspicious activity. The police are asking the public to report any suspicious activity to the local police service of jurisdiction.
