Barrhead RCMP arrest male after no show for curfew check, seize stolen semi-automatic shotgun & drugs

Barrhead, Alberta – “This seizure, arrest and charges are a significant example of the crime reduction work we do every day in Barrhead, identifying and targeting repeat offenders,” says Barrhead Detachment Commander, Sergeant Bob Dodds. “A curfew check resulted in the removal of illegal drugs and a firearm from our community.”

On Jan. 12, 2018, Barrhead RCMP arrested a male who was found to be breaching his curfew conditions the previous night. While arresting the male, police observed drugs, paraphernalia and a firearm at the residence. A search warrant was granted and police seized several items including a stolen semi-automatic shotgun, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and cash.

Randy Blake Wiebe, a 59-year-old from Barrhead was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (CDSA)(x3)
  • Fail to comply with court order (x8)
A search warrant was granted and police seized several items including a stolen semi-automatic shotgun, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and cash.

He was remanded into custody and his next court appearance will be in Barrhead Provincial Court on Jan. 23, 2018.
As this matter is now before the courts no further information will be provided.
