Handgun located and Antigonish, Nova Scotia man arrested following call to police

Antigonish , Nova Scotia – On January 12, just before 3 p.m., Antigonish District RCMP responded to a complaint of a man who threatened a woman and said he had a gun in his vehicle.

Police responded immediately and located the man outside of a home on Braemore Ave. He was arrested without incident, and RCMP members located a .22 calibre handgun in a backpack in his vehicle, as well as ammunition, a baseball bat, and a knife.

John Francis Gerrior, 54, of Antigonish, has been charged with several firearms offences, as well as two counts of Criminal Harassment and one count of Uttering Threats. He was held in custody following his arrest on January 12. He appeared before a judge on January 15 and has been remanded into custody. He is scheduled to return to Antigonish Provincial Court on February 14.

The investigation is ongoing.
