Drug trafficker sentenced to jail time; Jasper RCMP

Jasper, Alberta – On January 19, 2018 a Jasper resident charged with drug trafficking offences appeared at the Edmonton Court of Queen’s Bench for sentencing purposes.

Robert Douglas KELLY entered a guilty plea to possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and was sentenced by Justice J.J. GILL to 30 months in custody. KELLY will be serving his sentence in a Federal Correctional Institution. KELLY also received a lifetime firearms prohibition order and was ordered to submit a DNA sample to the National DNA Data Bank.

The charges against KELLY stemmed from a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant executed by Jasper RCMP officers on August 18, 2016 which resulted in a significant seizure of cash, cocaine, MDMA, cannabis marihuana, cannabis resin and psilocybin (magic mushrooms).
