Athabasca and Westlock RCMP assist Warrant Team with multiple arrests

Athabasca and Westlock, Alberta – The Eastern Alberta Warrant Apprehension Team along with the Athabasca and Westlock RCMP have arrested 14 people that were wanted by police and laid eight new Criminal Code charges.
Between Feb. 15-18, 2018 police checked over 75 locations for persons with outstanding warrants in the Athabasca and Westlock area. Police arrested several wanted persons and a total of 28 outstanding warrants with 33 charges were executed.

One individual was arrested in a bar and police seized a loaded pellet gun, brass knuckles and baton. He is now facing seven new Criminal Code charges for breach of peace, obstruction, breach of probation (x2) and possession of a weapon for a dangerous person (x3).

“The warrant apprehension team will continue to track down and arrest people who are wanted,” says Sergeant Phil Viers, Eastern Alberta Warrant Apprehension Team. “If you have a warrant please don’t be surprised to see us in the near future, better yet you can turn yourself in at your local RCMP Detachment.”

As a result of this initiative several outstanding warrants and charges are now before the courts.
