Steinbach, Manitoba – On Friday, March 16, 2018, at 12:20 pm, officers from the Steinbach RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 52 and Industrial Road in the City of Steinbach.
Investigators have determined that an eastbound vehicle, being driven by a 46-year-old male from Kleefeld with his 20-year son in the passenger seat, was making a left-hand turn onto Industrial Road when it was struck by a westbound cement truck, being driven by a 50-year-old male from La Broquerie.
The occupants of the vehicle were taken to local hospital where the 20-year-old succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the cement truck was not injured.
Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the collision and seatbelts were in use at the time.
The westbound lane of Highway 52 and Industrial Drive, between Hwy 52 and Acres Drive, remain closed to traffic.
Officers from the Steinbach Detachment along with an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
