Nanaimo, BC – A fight involving upwards of 15 high school students from two high schools in School District 68 is being investigated by the Nanaimo RCMP, and may result in criminal code charges. Following the altercation, several youths were taken to local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 1 pm on Tuesday April 3rd at the Serauxmen Stadium located on Third St.
Investigators assigned to the Nanaimo RCMP School Liaison Unit believe the fight was the result of comments made over social media. Understandably, with the number of youths involved, there were a number of investigative steps required to sort out what actually happened and who was responsible. Investigators are confident however, several of the youths may face criminal charges for their role in the melee, said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP. School administrators from the respective schools are aware of the incident.
If anyone has information on this incident and has not come forward to date, they are asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
