Selkirk RCMP investigate fatal collision on Highway 59

RM of St. Clements, Manitoba – On May 9, 2018, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the corner of CIL Road and Highway 59 in the RM of St. Clements.

Investigation determined a car was travelling northbound on Highway 59, attempting a turn onto CIL Road when it was struck by a southbound pickup truck.

The occupants of the truck, a 48-year-old male and 9-year old male from the RM of St. Clements, received minor injuries. The 38-year-old female driver of the car had three passengers – a 23-year-old female, a 10-year-old female, and a 6-year-old male, all from Winnipeg. The 23-year-old female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The remaining passengers were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor and all were wearing their seatbelts.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of a RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
