Body of Edmonton man recovered from banks of Pembina River

Entwistle, Alberta – Evansburg RCMP have recovered the body of an Edmonton man from the banks of the Pembina River near Entwistle.

On July 11 at approximately 1:00 pm, Evansburg RCMP responded to a report of a body being found near the edge of the Pembina River near Entwistle, below the Highway 16 bridge. RCMP attended with assistance of the local fire department and Fish and Wildlife. Due to rugged terrain and steep cliffs in the area, the operation lasted for several hours and resulted in a closure of a popular river rafting area while the recovery efforts were under way

The deceased has been identified as a 37-year-old man from Edmonton. The investigation is on-going, however the death is not considered suspicious at this time. The identity of the decease will not be released and the Evansburg RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience during the event.
