WAD RCMP Rural Crime Reduction Unit arrests two in stolen vehicle

Grande Prairie, Alberta – An adult male and female are facing charges after RCMP located the pair in a parked stolen vehicle last week.

On July 10, 2018 at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Team was proactively patrolling in the area of 103 Avenue and 110 Street. Members located a parked stolen pickup truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot with occupants inside.

Two suspects were arrested without incident.

Brandon Dwayne Mahon (21) of Grande Prairie has been charged with Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, and three counts of failing to comply with his Recognizance. Mahon was remanded into custody and appeared in court on July 11, 2018.

Amanda Mary Kathrin Olsen (30) of Fairview has been charged with Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. She was released from custody and is due in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on August 8, 2018.

As our Crime Reduction Strategy continues to take effect, communities should see less crime in every category in every corner of this province. From January to April 2018, property crime in Alberta’s rural detachments have decreased 10% compared to the same period last year.
