RCMP Major Crimes Unit North charge youth with 2nd Degree Murder

Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement, Alberta – The RCMP have made an arrest and laid charges following a serious assault with a weapon that left one male dead as a result of his injuries.

On August 7 at 10:00 p.m. Boyle RCMP responded to a complaint of a serious assault at a residence on the Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement. The 22-year-old victim was transported to the hospital in Boyle. An identified 17-year-old suspect was arrested on scene and taken into police custody.

On August 8, in the early morning hours, the male was declared deceased.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit – North assumed carriage of this investigation. An autopsy was completed and it was determined that the manner of death was a homicide.

A 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act has been charged with second degree murder in the homicide of Brandon Ladouceur of the Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement.

A judicial interim release hearing has been held and the youth is remanded to attend court in the Provincial Court of Alberta in Fort Saskatchewan on August 16, 2018.
