Edmonton shooting suspect arrested, charged with attempted murder

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service has charged a 29-year-old male with various offences including attempted murder in connection to an early-morning shooting Wednesday in downtown Edmonton.

Mustafe Rashid, 29, is accused with shooting a 28-year-old male complainant during a dispute at a suite near 98 Avenue and 103 Street, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018. The complainant was treated and transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Rashid was taken into custody without incident at approximately 1 p.m. yesterday, Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at a residence on the Onion Lake Reserve in Saskatchewan. RCMP members from Onion Lake, Turtleford and Maidstone, Sask. detachments all assisted in the arrest.

Edmonton Police Service investigators have also charged Rashid with aggravated assault, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.
